Bielomatik FoilStar 105/33
Year: 2007
Serial number: EN60204-1
SPECIFICATION:
Bielomatik FoilStar 105/33 — Technical Specification
Year: 2007 | Application: Inline cold-foil transfer
Important: Maximum production speed, foil-web count and substrate range are period FoilStar figures and may depend on the exact host press, installed options and press interface. They should not be represented as guaranteed capabilities of this individual unit without physical verification.
Machine Overview
The Bielomatik FoilStar is an inline cold-foil transfer system developed for integration with sheetfed offset presses. Adhesive is printed in one unit, the foil is transferred under pressure in the following unit, and the metallic layer can then be overprinted in subsequent units to create coloured metallic and diffraction effects.
Technical Specification
Manufacturer: Bielomatik Leuze GmbH + Co. KG (Confirmed from machine identification plate)
Model: FoilStar 105/33 (Confirmed)
Year: 2007 (Confirmed)
Process: Inline cold-foil transfer (Confirmed)
Format class: B1 / 105 cm class (Model / period application)
Electrical supply: 400 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz (Confirmed from machine identification plate)
Foil configuration: Full-width reel or multiple narrow webs (Period FoilStar specification)
Maximum foil webs: Up to 6 (Heidelberg 2007 FoilStar generation)
Production speed: Up to approx. 15,000 sheets/hour (Period specification; host-press dependent)
Substrate range: Approx. 70–400 g/m² (Period Heidelberg FoilStar specification)
Application quality: Fine text, lines, screens and solid areas (Period Heidelberg literature)
Overprinting: Cold-foil layer can be overprinted inline (Confirmed FoilStar process)
Compatible Heidelberg Presses
Originally designed for Heidelberg Speedmaster 105-format applications, particularly the Speedmaster XL 105. Compatibility with individual presses is subject to machine configuration, mechanical fit, electrical/software interface and Heidelberg/Bielomatik retrofit requirements.
Speedmaster XL 105 — Primary 105-format match. Heidelberg stated FoilStar availability for XL 105 in June 2007. This is the strongest period match for a 105-format module.
Speedmaster CD 102 — Same FoilStar generation. FoilStar was offered on CD 102 before and during the introduction of the XL 105 version. Individual retrofit compatibility must be checked.
Speedmaster CD 74 — Same technology, smaller format. Officially supported by the FoilStar product family in this period, but a 105/33 module should not be advertised as directly interchangeable with CD 74.
Cold-Foil Process
- Adhesive application — A special cold-foil adhesive is printed using a conventional offset plate.
- Foil transfer — Foil passes through the following printing nip and transfers only to adhesive-bearing areas.
- Carrier rewind — The spent carrier film is rewound after the metallic layer has transferred to the sheet.
- Inline overprinting — Subsequent printing units can overprint the metallic layer to produce a wide range of coloured metallic effects.
Documentation and Reference Sources
Heidelberg News, 2006 — FoilStar technical article. Period documentation covering the cold-foil process, substrate range and CD 74 / CD 102 application.
Heidelberg News, 2006 — Issue 257. Period publication quoting production capability up to approximately 15,000 sheets/hour and substrate range around 70–400 g/m².
Heidelberg FoilStar development announcement, 19 June 2007. Confirms availability for Speedmaster CD 74, CD 102 and XL 105, and a version able to process a single roll or split foil into up to six webs.
Current Heidelberg FoilStar literature — Useful for explaining the technology, but current-generation speed, reel dimensions and other values should not be applied to this 2007 machine.
Manual Status
A publicly accessible original 2007 Bielomatik/Heidelberg FoilStar 105/33 operator or service manual was not located during the research. For service, installation or electrical interface work, the correct documentation should be sourced using the full identification-plate details for this individual machine.
Prepared for BBR Graphics — Ref. 56600. This specification combines confirmed machine data with period Heidelberg FoilStar technical literature. Host-press-dependent or configuration-dependent figures are identified accordingly.
