The Speedmaster SM 102 remains one of the most widely used 70 × 100 cm presses in commercial and packaging print, and many of those running in the Gulf are well into their second decade. At DW Spare Parts, we supply Heidelberg SM 102 spare parts from Dubai to printers in the UAE, across the GCC and worldwide. In this guide we cover the 2026 developments that affect SM 102 owners, the parts that fail most, and five decisions our customers are making right now.
What 2026 means for SM 102 owners
Demand for B1 work in the Gulf is holding up. Mordor Intelligence values the Saudi packaging market at USD 11.4 billion in 2026, growing about 2.6% a year to 2031, and expects Saudi paper and paperboard packaging to reach 1.69 million tonnes this year. Saudi Print & Pack ran in Riyadh in April 2026, for the first time as part of the interpack alliance, and Gulf Print & Pack moved from March to 28 to 30 September 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre; its 2024 edition drew 8,331 visitors from 101 countries. Busy B1 presses wear faster, so parts planning matters.
Heidelberg is investing in parts, and pushing new presses. Heidelberg’s 2025/2026 annual report, published in June 2026, shows net sales of €2,293 million, with service and consumables a large share. The company says 95% of service part requests ship immediately, and from 1 June 2026 its original parts carry a three-year warranty when fitted by Heidelberg technicians. At the same time it promotes the Speedmaster CX 104, which it calls its global bestseller, as the upgrade path for older B1 presses.
New presses are being sold on efficiency. In July 2026, Scottish carton printer KennedySmith reported that a new B1 press produced in three shifts what used to take six, and cut its energy bill by 26% in the first quarter of 2026. Figures like these are why many SM 102 owners are weighing repair against replacement this year.
The SM 102 parts that fail most
- Grippers and gripper bars in the printing units, transfer drums and delivery.
- Feeder suckers and suction head parts.
- Inking and dampening rollers, many of which can be re-covered.
- Vacuum pumps and filters.
- Delivery chain and grippers.
- Electronic boards and sensors, the parts with the longest lead times.
- Coating unit parts on presses with a coater, such as anilox roller bearings.
Five decisions SM 102 owners are making
- An electronic board fails. Boards are the parts most likely to stop an older SM 102 for days. Keep the part number of every board in your press and source spares before they fail; for example, our site lists the KLM 4 Board for the SM 102 and CD 102.
- The coater starts to mark or streak. On an SM 102 with a coating unit (a name such as SM 102-5+L), worn anilox roller bearings are a common cause. An anilox roller bearing flange costs far less than a day of waste.
- Summer heat pushes ink and water out of balance. Gulf summers are hard on rollers, filters and electronics. Well-maintained Technotrans dampening and temperature control units keep the press stable and extend part life.
- You run an SM 102 next to a newer Speedmaster XL. Many shops add an XL while keeping the SM 102 for shorter runs. The two share few parts, so keep separate lists; XL parts such as the XL 105 infeed board are specific to that press.
- Keep, repair or replace? Replacement makes sense when downtime, energy and labour costs are rising together. If the press is mechanically sound, a planned parts shelf and regular maintenance usually cost far less than a new press. A simple test: add up the last 12 months of unplanned downtime and parts spend, then compare it with the yearly cost of a new press.
How to find the right part number
Heidelberg part numbers look like 71.030.210 or 00.785.0031. They are often marked on the part or listed in the spare parts catalogue. If you can’t find one, send a photo of the part, where it sits on the press, the model name and the serial number.
Delivery across the UAE, GCC and worldwide
We ship Heidelberg SM 102 parts from Dubai across the UAE, to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, and beyond the Gulf, including the UK, the US and Canada. Every quote includes shipping cost and delivery time. See more on our Heidelberg SM 102 spare parts in the UAE page. Running older presses too? Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy Heidelberg SM 102 spare parts in the UAE?
Right here. At DW Spare Parts in Dubai, we supply Heidelberg SM 102 spare parts to printers across the UAE, the GCC and internationally.
Which SM 102 parts should I keep in stock?
Feeder suckers, grippers, vacuum pump filters, sheet sensors, your most-replaced rollers and the part numbers of every electronic board.
Are SM 102 and CD 102 parts the same?
Some are shared, such as certain boards, and many are not. Send the part number and serial number and we confirm the fit.
Is it worth repairing an older SM 102 in 2026?
Often, yes. If the press is mechanically sound, planned maintenance and parts usually cost much less than a new press. Compare a year of downtime and parts spend with the cost of replacing it.
Need an SM 102 part?
Send us the part number, a photo or just your press model. Our team replies within 1 working day.
