The Heidelberg GTO 52 left production years ago, yet in 2026 it is still printing letterheads, forms, numbered tickets and short-run jobs in print shops across Dubai, Sharjah and the wider Gulf. At DW Spare Parts, our Dubai team supplies and sources Heidelberg GTO 52 spare parts for printers in the UAE, across the GCC and internationally. In this guide we look at what changed for GTO and QM 46 owners this year, the parts that wear first, and five situations our customers run into.
What changed for older Heidelberg presses in 2026
Three developments this year matter to anyone running a GTO.
Heidelberg is leaning harder on service and parts. In its 2025/2026 annual report, published in June 2026, Heidelberg reported net sales of €2,293 million, and on its results call the company said about 46% of sales came from its Digital Solutions & Lifecycle segment, which includes service and consumables. Spare parts for the installed base, including older presses, are a core business for the manufacturer, not a sideline.
Longer warranties, with a condition. Heidelberg states that 95% of its service part requests are shipped immediately, including parts for models no longer in serial production. From 1 June 2026, it extended the warranty on its original spare parts to three years, but only when the part is fitted by a Heidelberg service technician. For a GTO maintained in-house or by an independent mechanic, as many in the Gulf are, that condition changes the maths.
Fewer people who know these machines. Business intelligence firm Smithers reports that global print industry employment has fallen 14.8% since 2018. Printers in Canada told PrintAction this spring that as experienced press operators retire, maintenance costs rise, because newer operators don’t know the machines well enough to spot wear early. The same is true in Gulf print shops, where much GTO knowledge sits with one or two senior staff.
The GTO 52 and QM 46 parts that wear first
- Grippers and gripper springs. Worn grippers cause misregister and slipping sheets. Replace them in sets.
- Inking and dampening rollers. Hardened or swollen rollers cause streaks; many can be re-covered rather than replaced.
- Feeder suckers and suction parts. Worn suckers cause misfeeds and double sheets, especially on thin paper.
- Sheet and double-sheet sensors. A faulty sensor stops the press or lets doubles through.
- Bearings and cam followers. Noise and registration drift are the early signs.
- Belts and electronics. Belts stretch and crack; older boards fail with heat and age.
Five situations GTO owners face, and what to do
1. The press stops mid-job with a rush order waiting. Most stoppages on a GTO trace back to the feeder: worn suckers, a blocked vacuum line or a sensor fault. Check those first, then send us the part number or a photo. Keeping one set of suckers and the sensor your press uses on the shelf turns most of these into same-day fixes.
2. You’re buying a used GTO 52 in 2026. GTOs are still traded on European used-machinery marketplaces this year, so buyers in the Gulf have choices. Before you buy, check the rollers, the gripper bars, the feeder and the electrics, and ask for the serial number so you can confirm parts for that build. Budget for a set of rollers and grippers in year one.
3. Genuine, compatible or reconditioned? If you maintain the press yourself or with your own mechanic, as most of our GTO customers do, we quote genuine, compatible and reconditioned options side by side, so you can choose on price and lead time. Every quote from us says exactly which type you are getting.
4. You run a GTO next to a Speedmaster SM 52. Many shops pair the two. They share a supplier but not most parts, especially electronics such as the UVM 4 Board for the SM 52. Keep a separate part-number list for each press.
5. Your most experienced operator is retiring. Before they go, record the part numbers of everything you replace regularly, where each part sits and what the failure looked like. Heidelberg part numbers look like 71.030.210 and are often marked on the part or in the spare parts catalogue. That list is worth more than any manual.
GTO 52 or QM 46: what to send for a quote
- The model and version, for example a 4-colour GTO 52 or a QM 46 DI.
- The serial number from the machine plate.
- The part number, if you have it.
- A photo of the part and where it sits on the press.

Frequently asked questions
Can I still get spare parts for a Heidelberg GTO 52 in 2026?
Yes. At DW Spare Parts in Dubai, we supply and source GTO 52 parts for printers in the UAE, the GCC and abroad, including parts that are no longer in production.
Does Heidelberg’s three-year parts warranty apply to my GTO?
According to Heidelberg, the three-year warranty from 1 June 2026 applies to its original parts when a Heidelberg service technician fits them. Check the terms with Heidelberg for your press.
Are GTO 52 and GTO 46 parts the same?
Some are and some aren’t. Send the part number and serial number, and we confirm whether a part fits.
What if the part number is worn off?
Send a photo of the part with your press model and serial number. We identify it from those details.
Need a GTO 52 or QM 46 part?
Send us the part number, a photo or just your press model, or find your spare parts on our website. Our team replies within 1 working day.
